In childhood, he was intent on taking things apart to see how they worked and putting them back together in a new and different way. The compulsion to question and reconstruct the world around followed him well into adulthood, and having graduated from Georgia Tech with the highest honours, he was set on building it better. Naturally, we got him Lego for his birthday every year.
At the start of the summer, Liam was killed in a car accident. October 10th would mark his 24th birthday. He used to talk about ideas as spores, travelling around from one consciousness to the next until they find a place to live and grow, and, in the spirit of what magic and creativity he brought into this world, I’m declaring an official Build Stuff With Lego Dayin his memory.
The idea is simple: dig out your old Legos, or grab some the next time you’re out (small packs are sold in most supermarkets!) and, quite simply, build stuff. Whether you’re following the instructions or throwing them out the window, a functioning space shuttle or just a tower of bricks, the point is to have fun.
To contribute, submit a photo or video of the Stuff You Built With Lego. All posts will be published on Liam’s birthday.
Reblog this post and get it out there! The more bricks, the merrier. <3
